OK, you say, big deal! Well, it is. We haven’t seen any rain since we have been here. We were starting to think that it was some sort of myth.
Along with the rain came lots of lightning and thunder. What a deluge! Now we see what all these deep pits around the place are for. They must be the excess stormwater control system. The idea seems to be to let these swimming pool-sized tanks fill up in a downpour and then slowly drain away as the rain eases.
Later we heard warnings on TV about a storm cell that was dumping 4 inches of rain in an hour and hail the size of golf balls. Apparently hail the size of a softball is not unknown. That’s 100mm! You don't want to be outside in that!
Anyway, It was absolutely delightful lying in bed, listening to the rain on the roof while drifting off to sleep. Zzzzzzz…
